Boynton Beach: A Friendly Beach Community

Boynton Beach is located in the Eastern part of Palm Beach county, 15 miles south of West Palm Beach, and 52 miles North of Miami. This coastal town of 80,000 is a diverse and welcoming mix of families, retirees and young professionals who love the relaxed and fun lifestyle. The average age of its residents is about 41, but it’s a place with a diverse age range. Beaches and Parks Abound

One of the top appeals of living in Boynton Beach naturally, is the Atlantic Ocean and the miles of pristine beaches are just a short drive away. A favorite is Oceanfront Park, which features shaded walkways and a boardwalk, combined with a playground and a snack stand, creating the perfect setup to relax and unwind. Jaycee Park gives residents easy access to canoeing and kayaking, and Gulfstream Park is a quieter beach spot for picnics or walks by the ocean.

There is plenty of opportunity to golf, swim, jet ski and fish no matter where you are in Boynton Beach. You can catch the Palm Beach Hydroflight for a rush of adrenaline over the water, and then find calmer ways to be on the waves. Head to Boynton Beach Inlet, for fishing, diving and surfing. Just south of the inlet, The Boynton Harbor Marina offers fishing charters and scuba diving charters, jet-ski or boat rentals, and even dining over the waterfront.

Wildlife and Swamplands

For wildlife exploration, spend time at the the Green Cay Nature Center and Wetlands, full of birds and reptiles to view. And you can paddle the swamp at the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge nearby, then take advantage of hiking trails that traverse unique terrain. The Animal EDventure Park and Safari is fun for children, and has kangaroos, alpacas and llamas, to name a few. The Schoolhouse Children’s Museum, also allows exploration indoors, and an outdoor playground for young children.

City Offerings, Without the Crowds

Boynton Beach is home to cultural events and festivals throughout the year. In September, the Boynton Beach Art Walk takes place, which promotes local artists and craftspeople. In July, there is the The Boynton Beach Night Market, held at the Centennial Park & Amphitheater. There’s a holiday boat parade and a Christmas tree lighting in December.  The Amphitheater is also home to a free monthly concert series in the summer. 

The city has made investments to revitalize the downtown area, so you can find cafes, shops and venues for events. The Boynton Beach Arts District is another creative destination in the area, featuring local artists of all kinds.

Boynton Beach's arts and culture scene, as well as excellent dining options are parts of its appeal. It has a diverse culinary scene: Prime Catch or George’s Waterfront grill are local favorites right on the water. There's a large indoor mall for basic retail chain shops, and designer shopping is 15 minutes south, in the Boca Town Center mMall. West Boynton features some outdoor shopping for an easy stroll.
